November 14, 2009 Highlight Chicago Fire Boats and 1909 Cherry Mine Disaster |
Come see another presentation in a series of programs relating to historic events involving the fire service on Saturday, November 14th. One part of the program will feature the role of fire boats in protecting life and property along the city's waterways. The other will be a 100th Anniversary look back at the Cherry, Illinois mine fire disaster of November, 1909, which Chicago firefighers helped extinguish.
Rarely seen photos and other documentation will illustrate both segments of the program, which will start at 10a.m., at the Chicago Fire Academy, 558 W. DeKoven St., just south of Taylor between Clinton and Jefferson Streets. Admission is free.
