As you may already know the second floor of the museum is being turned into the Ken Little Research Library.
This past summer we renovated the second floor from a bunkroom, into a research library. The walls were insulated, drywalled and painted. The ceiling was replaced with a drop ceiling complete with recessed lighting. Heat and air conditioning was added to the second floor, and we took advantage of the construction to include air conditioning on the first floor as well. And finally our 100 year old maple floor was sanded and polyurethaned with spectacular results.
The good people at The University of Saint Mary of the Lake (Mundelien Seminary) were gracious enough to donate shelving. On December 3, twenty Boy Scouts from troop #79 relocated the shelves to the museum. Since then our staff has been working on organizing our collection.
Here are some recent progress photographs to give you a sneak peak of things to come.
